Full Figure Women - Join the Modeling Industry

Have you ever had the desire to be a model, but thought it was beyond you because you simply are not thin enough. The fact of the matter is just the opposite is true. Plus size models are in great demand given the fact most women do not have rail thin bodies. The question, of course, is how do you become one?

The first thing to understand is the dolls industry is not an easy one. It can be glamorous, but it can also be brutal. The level of competitiveness and politicking can make a Presidential campaign look like a local tea party. Does that mean you shouldn't go for it? No, but you need to go into it with your eyes wide open.

A word on the basics of being a full figure model. Just like your waif like sisters, you are going to have to meet some basic measurements. Generally, you need to be 5'8" or taller. You will also need to wear a size 10 or larger. There is some variation in these requirements per agency, but not a lot.

The first step is finding a modeling agency. They are a dime a dozen or so it seems. The key is to find a reputable one. Sadly, there are more than a few who can be classified as scams. Read up on modeling before you go 1963 Fleer baseball cards Understand what is expected of you and what is not. If an agency starts maneuvering outside of the accepted standards, it should be a 1985 Fleer baseball cards flag.

Okay, you've identified the agencies you want to approach. Now what? Well, it depends. If you have a very unique look, you can try just walking into an agency and asking for an interview. The agency may view you as just another girl or a diamond in the rough. Still, you won't know until you try.

A more traditional approach is to build up a portfolio before going to the agency. Many women mistakenly try to use traditional poses in their portfolio. This is a mistake because most agencies are looking for women who are naturally photographic, not accomplished at posing. Most advertising campaigns and shows will go with natural looks as opposed to static posturing as well. In short, be yourself. You might even try renting a season of one of the modeling reality television shows for some hints.

The world of modeling can be glamorous and fun for women of any size. Know what you are getting into and make sure to keep a positive attitude regardless of how tough it gets at time.
